First and foremost, the dcpChess program is not your opponent. You get to play real live people via electronic mail. All this program does is interface with your email client and check to make sure the move you are attempting to make is legal. The program keeps track of the status of the game board, maintains a history list of the moves each player makes and, in general, functions as a referee.
