Das Modul Z-FTPcopyII stattet das Backup Programm Z-DBackup oder Scheduler Z-Cron mit der Möglichkeit aus, ein Archiv oder eine Datensicherung auf jedem FTP-fähigen Server (mit der RFC 959-Spezifikation) zu kopieren. Voraussetzung ist ein FTP-Server mit ausreichendem Speicher (vielleicht kein Windows-Host). Konfigurationsangaben für das Z-FTP-Copy sind: die IP-Adresse für den FTP-Server, ein gültiges Login und eine serverintegrierte Pfadangabe, wo die Daten gespeichert werden sollen. Das Modul Z-FTP-Copy ermöglicht die Nutzung von heterogenen Speicherumgebungen außerhalb des Backup Netzwerks als Datensicherungs-Medium.
Das Programm ist ein Kommandozeilen Tool, d.h. es wird über Kommandozeilen Parameter gesteuert . Das ermöglicht eine zeitgesteuerte FTP-Übertragung mittels des in Windows integrierten Taskplaner oder mittels Z-Cron. Z-FTPcopyII wurde eigentlich als Erweiterung für Z-DBackup konzipiert, kann aber auch als eigenständiges Programm zur schnellen und einfachen Übertragung einer Datensicherung auf einen FTP-Server genutzt werden.
Nach dem Start von Z-FTPcopyII ohne Parameter wird das Hauptfenster dargestellt. Von diesem Fenster aus können Dateien oder Verzeichnisse auch im direkten Dialog kopiert werden.
