Chromium for Linux 19.0.1041.0
Chromium is an open-source browser project that aims to build a safer, faster, and more stable way for all Internet users to experience the web. This site contains design documents, architecture overviews, testing information, and more to help you learn to build and work with the Chromium source code.
If you are building with gcc 4.4 (or newer) compilation flags will be tweaked automatically to work around some strict aliasing and other issues. Since the buildbots use an older compiler version, compilation with gcc 4.4.x does break from time to time however. File a bug or ask on IRC if you are having trouble with gcc 4.4.x please. If you`re getting warnings, can`t build because of that, but just want to get things done, you can specifyGYP_DEFINES=`werror=` to disable -Werror that is on by default.
On a 64-bit system, set GYP_DEFINES=target_arch=x64 and regenerate the Makefiles by doing gclient runhooks --force.
To do a parallel build, add -jX where X is the number of make processes to start up. This is useful for multiple-core machines or machines using distcc. See LinuxFasterBuilds for more info. Example:
make -j5 chrome # Good for a 4 core machine
To do a ChromeOS build of Chrome, just set GYP_DEFINES=chromeos=1. This is not all of ChromeOS (see the ChromiumOS page for full build instructions), this is just the slightly tweaked version of the browser that runs on that system. Its not designed to be run outside of ChromeOS and some features won`t work, but compiling on your Linux desktop can be useful for certain types of development and testing.
To set multiple GYP_DEFINES options, just separate them with spaces.
