The program has a simple interface that makes TV broadcast monitoring a three-click affair. Let's say, for example, you need to monitor the playback of a commercial on a TV channel to make sure it is played the number of times the TV channel is paid for. To begin, select the folder or folders where you store the TV broadcast dump files, add a sample of the commercial, and run a search. The program will analyze the dump files using its video fingerprint algorithm, and identify all instances of the commercial automatically without your interference. The results are presented as a thumbnail list with the names of dump files that contain the commercial and time when its playback starts in each dump file.

The core of Media Monitoring Tool is the company's video fingerprinting algorithm that enables searching for
video by visual characteristics, such as color, texture and shapes. The program reads the provided commercial and produces a data set or fingerprint of that video. Then this fingerprint is compared against the recorded broadcast dump, and all instances of that commercial are identified. The algorithm processes video files in AVI, MKV, 3GP, MPG, SWF, MP4, WMV, FLV. The processing speed depends on the power of the computer, but on average it is faster than other broadcast monitoring systems. For example, an hour of video can be processed in 3-4 minutes.
